The first choice for my magazine cover, was the title. MONTHL-e-NORF refers to both the nickname of the college (Enorf), and hoe often the magazine is published (Monthly). This is also explained in the sub-title. Play-on-words, are often easily rememerable, and a commonly used marketing ploy.
The text colours were chosen in response the the questionaire. Green and red were the most popular colour choices.
The blue banner at the top is complimentory to the blue drinks machine, and the clothes of the model. Blue, connotes coolness, and is a very casual. This is also shown by the model.
The sun logo at the top is the college logo. I decided to implement the price into as a space saver.
I chose to take the photograph at the drinks machine in response to questionairre. It was decided that the front cover should be relevent to one of the main stories in the issue, and in this case, the 'drinks scandal'. The questionairre also showed that it would be preferable to have a student in the picture. I decided to have the model just standing casually at the drinks machine.
I carried on with the green and red theme with the arrows. The arrows are pointing towards the opening on the magazine implying the information on the stories are on the inside. I experimented with different shadowing effects to make the arrows stand out from the background image.
Overall, i think my magazine cover is fairly successful, but it could also be alot better. My skill limitations made completing the cover hard, but i've made it reach an acceptable standard. The choice of background image was a good one, but the arrows could have been alot better. Doing this task helped improve my Photoshop skills, aswell as my photography skills.
